As a woman who grew up in Liberia, I know firsthand the fear and isolation that come with not having the knowledge or resources to manage period. Growing up, the conversations about menstruation were treated as taboo. No one talked about it, and I was left to figure out how to manage my period on my own. Without proper products or education, it was a time of fear and shame. I worried constantly about staining my school uniform or being embarrassed in front of others. Many days, I stayed home, feeling isolated and powerless. These struggles are not unique. Even today, countless girls worldwide, especially in places like Liberia, face the same challenges. Silence around menstruation leaves them unprepared, while the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products keeps them out of school and robs them of their confidence. This is why I founded Girly Gifts. Our mission is to break the silence and normalize the conversation about menstruation through education and the provision of pads. By empowering girls with knowledge and the necessary tools, we’re helping them stay in school, feel confident, and embrace their futures without shame.
Your support can help change lives. Together, we can create a world where no girl feels ashamed of her period, and every girl has the opportunity to thrive.
We envision a world in which all girls and young women, regardless of social status, have access to free menstrual hygiene products
Provide free menstrual hygiene products and menstrual hygiene management education to underprivileged girls and young women in West Africa (Liberia)
